The Johnson - Kerrigan Class
Hello Families!
Monday: For Language Arts, we read "The Paper Bag Princess" and then the students wrote in their journals. During Library, Ms. Nostdal Tuesday: Student listened to the story, "Mmm Cookies" and then wrote in their journals. Students brainstormed math sentences for 8 and played another game of "Dash to 100" in math. After quiet reading time, students made their own Canada flags and enjoyed some active P.E. time. Wednesday: Students looked for patterns in adding ten during Blast-off. We completed butterfly sentences together with our best printing during writing time. Grade twos worked on borrowing ten while grade ones reinforced memorization of doubles with a dice sheet. We practiced our dance in gym before lunch. After music we headed out for a forest walk and scavenged natural items from the forest floor for a craft project in art. Thursday:After more adding/subtracting 10 review during Blast-off we closed our unit with a mind map on butterflies. We will focus on Canada and nature concepts in our final weeks at school. Grade twos had more review on borrowing ten in subtraction while grade ones reviewed adding doubles and worked on their butterfly folders. Jordyn, Kamryn and Julianna presented a Glitter Dance for their show and tell presentation. In the afternoon we had a visitor, Cathy Takagaki, teach us some new, fun songs to sing. We had more dance practice in the gym, followed by a fire drill at the end of the day. Enjoy the weekend everyone!
