Class Year End Presentation
Thursday, June 17

Hello Families!
Monday is our field trip to Drummond Park and Thursday is Sharing Our Learning Day at 1:30 pm. Children will show their parents their writing folders and read a book at their desk. After some sharing time in the classroom we will present a dance that we have learned in the Whole School Meeting Area. Would you please respond to this email if you will be coming to that so we know which parents to contact. We will have a reminder note going home on Monday as well.

Here's our weekly summary:

Monday: For Language Arts, we read "The Paper Bag Princess" and then the students wrote in their journals. During Library, Ms. Nostdal
introduced the students to a number of different types of books that
they make like to take out of the library. We played, "Dash to 100"
in math. In the afternoon, the grade ones learned how to stay safe in the woods through the "Hug a Tree" program while the grade two's
painted nature murals with the grade two's in Ms. Freeman's class.

Tuesday: Student listened to the story, "Mmm Cookies" and then wrote in their journals. Students brainstormed math sentences for 8 and played another game of "Dash to 100" in math. After quiet reading time, students made their own Canada flags and enjoyed some active P.E. time.

Wednesday: Students looked for patterns in adding ten during Blast-off. We completed butterfly sentences together with our best printing during writing time. Grade twos worked on borrowing ten while grade ones reinforced memorization of doubles with a dice sheet. We practiced our dance in gym before lunch. After music we headed out for a forest walk and scavenged natural items from the forest floor for a craft project in art.

Thursday:After more adding/subtracting 10 review during Blast-off we closed our unit with a mind map on butterflies. We will focus on Canada and nature concepts in our final weeks at school. Grade twos had more review on borrowing ten in subtraction while grade ones reviewed adding doubles and worked on their butterfly folders. Jordyn, Kamryn and Julianna presented a Glitter Dance for their show and tell presentation. In the afternoon we had a visitor, Cathy Takagaki, teach us some new, fun songs to sing. We had more dance practice in the gym, followed by a fire drill at the end of the day.

Enjoy the weekend everyone!
